Letter of Pope John Paul II to Artist (Item 14). From the Vatican, 4 April 1999, Easter Sunday. |
MÚSICOS AL RESCATE (the literal translation is "Musicians to the Rescue") is a group of Catholic singers and musicians all living in South Florida (USA) but most of us originally from different parts of Latin America. We all serve in different ministries and parishes of the Archdiocese of Miami.
Recognizing that we have received our talents from the Lord, we decided to tune our instruments and lift up our voices in support of those in need. Responding to His call to love one another, we want to share our gifts with our neighbors in solidarity.
Our events are prepared quickly, professionally, and effectively so that they may serve as fundraising tools and spiritual support in times of emergencies or natural disasters.
The first MÚSICOS AL RESCATE concert took place March 9, 2001 and it benefited the victims of several earthquakes in the Central American country of El Salvador. On that occasion we raised a total of $(USD)16,000 which we then donated to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami so that they could be sent to the victims along with all the other donations of our generous local community.
